Being a teacher, crime lab trainer, and a guest speaker to elementary schools, discussion help

Being a teacher, crime lab trainer, and a guest speaker to elementary schools, I understand the differences in presenting information. When presenting and training to college students, I find it easier to show them real life cases and examples of crime scenes. For instance, I use the infamous case of Sharon Tate in my training due to the brutality of the crime and the crime scene itself. As we should all know, Sharon Tate was murdered by the followers of Charles Manson in 1969. Hen training college students, it is easier to use real life examples and show them the fullness of the brutality of the crime and crime scene itself due to their ability to process and understand it.

When presenting to elementary students, I would not use this approach of presenting. When presenting to elementary students, I go with the approach of just explaining the crime scene processing stages and the use of the equipment. For instance, the last time I presented to a group of elementary students, I set up different stations for them to visit and to learn how to process fingerprints, look for trace evidence using the black light, and how to process a footprint cast. I would never use real life examples of crime scenes and their brutality because elementary students do not need to be exposed to that level of trauma at such a young age. It is important to know the differences in presenting to different audiences because some audiences do not need to be exposed to certain things.
