how can we change educational paradigms
This quarter, I’ve been working to get us to think critically about the nature of education, partly because I think that it has such a strong influence on the ways we are creative. In this discussion, let’s think deeply about what we could do differently to make an educational system that works for everyone.
Consider these questions (some or all, depending on what “speaks” to you):
– Do you feel educators think enough about how they are teaching, as opposed to what they teach?
– What is the cost of emphasizing conformity over creativity and individuality in education?
– Robinson argues that we need to not only eliminate the hierarchy of subjects, we need to eliminate the idea of subjects. Can interdisciplinary learning (as discussed in the video on the previous page) more effectively serve students’ interests?
