Chamberlain College of Nursing Week 6 Amazing Changes and Events Discussion

Class & Professor,

One of the changes that will be discussed in this case is the certification for the nurses. The accreditation requires every nurse to be fully certified before serving in any healthcare setting. Since its establishment, there has been an increase in the quality of care provided to the patients in various hospitals. According to the Registered Nurse licensing, every nurse must meet the minimum criteria of knowledge and preparation to exercise nursing. It likewise depicts that RN has an augmented level of particular experience and expertise (Judd & Sitzman, 2014). These skills are essential as they facilitate competence among nurses. Furthermore, they ensure capability among all the players in the field of nursing. All the registered nurses acquire their license from the State Board of Nursing, which ascertains the nurse as having attained the irreducible minimum to offer service in any healthcare. Nevertheless, a nurse can be nationally certified after working in a specialized unit in healthcare. It is a must for the nurses to go through PCCN certification, which is done by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. In general, the certification of nurses is aimed at augmenting the quality of care and services offered in the hospital.
Furthermore, the other significant event or change noted is the classification if nursing care into various departments. In the 1960s, there are two primary divisions established, and they include Coronary Care Units and Intensive Care Unit. These divisions are still there to date. The division of nursing care has encouraged specialization of nurses into different specialties, thus allowing competency in the provision of services. Also, nurses become competent in their work in the event that they are dealing with a single department; this increases the quality of services offered to the patients.
